When laying your hand upon a living creature, you channel positive energy that cures 1d8 points of damage +1 point per caster level (maximum +5). When laying your hand upon an unliving creature, the effect is if it were the reverse, cause light wounds, inflicting damage.
The reverse of this spell is cause light wounds and when casting, you channel negative energy that inflicts 1d8 points of damage +1 point per caster level (maximum +5). When laying your hands upon an undead creature, the effect is as if it were the normal casting, healing damage.
