====== An Aubade ======

The alarm sounds and I awaken;\\
First one eye opens, then the other.\\
I curse the alarm by which my slumber was taken,\\
And I peer down the hall to see my brother,\\
Tossing a towel from one arm to the other.\\
I then turn back over to slumber five minutes more.\\
When I awaken again I look to my stand,\\
I see there her picture; a tear falls to my hand.\\
I wish that she were here with me forever more.

I snap out of my daze and I go to the shower,\\
I dress and I've eaten and other odd things,\\
I now I have left about an hour\\
Before I need to leave to make it before the school bell rings.\\
So I sit down to begin my daily routine\\
Of sitting transfixed before my computer screen.\\
I dial the modem and check my E-mail,\\
I hang up the modem and begin working\\
On my life of programming, hoping to make a living\\
Some day, and have job that from which I may tell tales.
